Day 01 :

Vientiane Arrival

Arrival in Vientiane. Welcome at the airport by our guide and driver, then transfer to the city.

Vientiane is the capital also largest city of Lao. We then go for a short city tour includes visiting Patuxai, Vientiane's triumphal arch. Then, the unmissable Pha That Luang, the emblem of Laos, featured on the national coat of arms and banknotes. The temple's 40-meter-high, gold-covered stupa can be seen for miles around.

End of the day with a walk along the banks of the Mekong for a fabulous sunset…

Day 02 :

Vientiane CT - Buddha Park

Vientiane is one of the calmest capitals in the world, far from the usual bustling Asian capitals, far from the real estate frenzy of regional megacities.

First visit Wat Sisaket, the only temple left intact after the Siamese invasion of 1828. It is one of the most beautiful temples in the capital with its teak corridors adorned with thousands of miniature Buddha statues.

Continue on to Wat Phra Keo, which has become a religious museum showcasing a wide range of Lao and Khmer art.

Right next door, you have the Presidential Palace. Although you are not allowed to enter it, the place gives you a glimpse of the city during the time of French colonialism since it is the former palace of the French governor.

Then, a visit to Wat Simuang, Vientiane's most popular and revered temple, which is also considered the guardian of the city's soul. Within this sacred place stands a Khmer-era pillar, and legend has it that walking around it three times while making a wish is the ultimate reward.

In the afternoon, departure for a 45-minute drive to the Buddha Park.

Upon arriving at Buddha Park, enjoy a relaxing stroll through the grounds. Also known as Xieng Khuan, this unusual park is filled with over 200 Buddhist and Hindu statues. The peaceful and tranquil setting of the park, nestled in a bend of the Mekong River, contrasts sharply with the somewhat eccentric statues sculpted in 1958 by a Lao shaman.

Use your free time to explore, appreciate the place and relax.

Return to Vientiane and transfer to your hotel.

Day 03 :

Vientiane - Pakse

Breakfast at the hotel.

Head to Vientiane airport for your flight to Pakse. From Pakse, we will travel to Tad Fane waterfall, located 38km from Pakse, at the gateway to the Bolaven Plateau and within the Dong Hua Sao protected area.

Next, a visit to the Tad Ngern waterfalls. You can swim at the base of the falls, but be careful of the current.

Along the way, you will visit a tea or coffee plantation on the Bolaven Plateau. The Bolaven Plateau, or simply Bolaven, is a gently rolling mountainous region east of Pakse. The plateau rises to between 1,000 and 1,300 meters and is covered with dozens of coffee and tea fields.

The plateau is also home to ethnic minorities such as the Laven, the Mom-Khmer Alak, and the Katu. The Katu are renowned for the intricate carving of their coffins, which they keep beneath their houses. It is a truly remarkable craft to behold. Among the women, one can still see traditional facial tattoos, although this practice is gradually disappearing. Return to Pakse.

Day 04 :

Pakse - Wat Phou - Don Khong (Khong Island)

In the morning, we will head to Champasak to visit the fascinating pre-Angkorian ruin of Vat Phu, the most dramatic of the temples and one of the Lao World Heritage sites recognized by UNESCO in 2001. This magnificent archaeological site of Khmer civilization dates back 5 centuries.

We will continue our journey by car to Don Khong Island, the largest island in the southern Mekong region known as the 4000 Islands, one of the most scenic areas of Laos.

Day 05 :

Don Khong (4000 islands)

After breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer to the fishing village of Nakasang, from where you begin your excursion by local boat through the 4000 Islands to Don Khong and Don Det. The two islands are connected by a bridge, making it very easy to walk between them.

Next, we discovered another marvel of the 4000 Islands region: the Liphi Falls. These falls form churning rapids that the Laotians refuse to approach too closely because spirits are said to have taken refuge there.

Return to Nakasang village by boat, and the vehicle will be waiting to transfer you to visit the other Mekong waterfall - Khone Phapheng, the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia (the Niagara of the East).

Return to Don Khong for the night.

Day 06 :

Don Khong - Pakse - Luang Prabang

Transfer to Pakse airport to catch the flight to Luang Prabang.

Upon arrival, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel.

Luang Prabang has been claimed by UNESCO as "the best-preserved city in Southeast Asia."

At the end of the day, climb Mount Phousi for a breathtaking view at sunset.

Day 07 :

Luang Prabang CT on Tuk Tuk

Breakfast at the hotel before visiting the city of Luang Prabang.

Discover the Wat Xieng Thong temple, the monastery of the Golden City, whose ornaments, mosaics, and stupas are among the most exquisite.

The tour of Luang Prabang continues with a visit to the city's historic temple: Vat Visoun, built in the early 16th century. It was partially destroyed by fire in 1887, and the architects responsible for its renovation chose to give it an architectural style inspired by the Khmer temple Vat Phou.

A short walk away, discover Wat Aham, then the city's first monastery, Wat Saen. Finally, visit Wat May, built in the typical Luang Prabang style.

In the afternoon, you will learn about the history of the region and the royal family at the Royal Palace, now a museum.

In the evening, stroll through the stalls of the vibrant night market. Every night, ethnic minorities gather along the main street to sell their local produce.

Day 08 :

Luang Prabang - Pak Ou Caves and Craft Village

Start the day by visiting the Phosi market and the Ock Pop Tock weaving center, where you will be shown the different weaving techniques in Laos.

Then we will take an upstream cruise on the Mekong River, which gives us a panoramic view of the tranquil countryside.

Our first stop is the village of Ban Muangkeo, where we will begin a short journey to reach the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, two linked caves where thousands of gold-lacquered Buddha statues of different shapes and sizes are piled up, left by pilgrims.

On the way, we will stop at the village of Ban Xang Hai, where the local rice wine is produced.

On the way, we will visit Ban Xang Khong, Ban Xieng Lek, and Ban Nong Xai, small villages well-known for silk weaving and Saa (jute) paper making. We will return to Luang Prabang and visit a traditional silversmith workshop.

Day 09 :

Luang Prabang - Trekking from Ban Long Lao to Kuang Sy Falls

Transfer by car to Long Lao, a village where the Khamu and Hmong ethnic groups live side by side. Your trek begins, lasting two hours, through farmland, bamboo groves, and jungle. Some sections may be slippery during the rainy season.

The hike continues to Kuang Si Falls, where you can relax with a refreshing swim in the pool or stroll along the forest trails. A picnic lunch is planned near the falls.

The return to Luang Prabang is at the end of the day.
